GlasPort Bio is an Irish agri-technology company developing practical, science-led solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from livestock farming. The company focuses on tackling emissions at source within existing farm systems, enabling farmers, processors, cooperatives, retailers and industry stakeholders to deliver measurable, independently verified climate impact without disrupting day-to-day operations for farmers.

GasAbate™ is GlasPort Bio’s globally patented slurry treatment technology, designed to reduce methane and other harmful emissions during manure storage. Automatically dosed into existing slurry tanks, stores and lagoons, GasAbate™ temporarily suppresses methane-producing microbes during storage, delivering a 78% reduction in methane emissions which has been third-party assured by The Carbon Trust. This certification underpins the credibility of its emissions reduction claims and validates the robustness of the science behind the technology.

Beyond carbon abatement, GasAbate™ delivers a range of operational and on-farm co-benefits. By reducing hydrogen sulphide (up to 80%) and ammonia (up to 50%), GasAbate™ significantly improves air quality around slurry stores and livestock housing. In the pig sector, this improvement in air quality is increasingly being linked to better animal health and performance outcomes, including improved feed efficiency and overall pig performance, alongside safer and more comfortable working conditions for farm staff.

GasAbate™ also slows slurry decomposition during storage, helping to retain nitrogen, sulphur and organic matter in the slurry rather than losing them as gases. This improves the fertiliser value of slurry at land application and supports more efficient nutrient use. Improved slurry consistency reduces crusting and the need for agitation, lowering labour demand and improving safety during slurry handling.

For farms supplying or operating anaerobic digestion (AD) plants, GasAbate™ preserves organic matter during storage, resulting in higher biomethane yields when slurry is subsequently digested, unlocking additional value from existing manure resources. Importantly, GasAbate™ breaks down naturally into water and oxygen, leaving no residues in slurry or on pasture once spread.

For processors and retailers, GasAbate™ provides a credible, scalable pathway to measurable Scope 3 emissions reduction at farm level, where the majority of livestock supply-chain emissions occur. Methane emissions from slurry storage represent one of the largest controllable and lowest cost abatement opportunities in livestock systems and GasAbate™ delivers immediate impact without requiring changes to animal genetics, feed regimes or production intensity. Fully automated deployment, seamless integration into existing infrastructure and a robust, audit-ready MRV platform enables verified reductions to be confidently allocated into carbon footprinting, ESG reporting and climate targets, all while supporting farmers with a solution that is straightforward and easy to adopt.
