Mullinahone Co-op was founded in 1893. It has seen and survived many changes over the years and has stayed true to its Co-operative principles by remaining farmer owned to this day. Throughout its history it has made a major contribution to the local community in Mullinahone and to the Irish Agricultural Sector. Today, the co-op operates its Animal Identification, Agri wholesale, Pet Grooming Supplies and Cheese businesses on its site in Mullinahone, Co. Tipperary. Our longevity and success to date is due in no small way to our experienced staff who deliver a quality service to all of our customers on a daily basis.

Compsey Creamery

Our cheese business activity trades under the name “Compsey Creamery”. Compsey Creamery operates a milk processing and dairy production. Facility producing a range of fresh dairy products for foodservice and manufacturing customers both at home and abroad. The product range comprises yogurt, sour cream, crème fraiche, cottage cheese, mascarpone and a number of soft cheeses.

Artarmon AI is a Cork-based consultancy founded by David Clifford, a data scientist with 25 years’ experience building AI and data systems for agriculture. David is a UCC graduate who holds a PhD in spatial statistics from the University of Chicago (Fulbright Scholar). We are based in Tralee Co. Kerry with our offices based in Tralee town, along with our own research centre and laboratories. We also maintain a laboratory at MTU Tralee. Our production facilities are based in Asdee in North Kerry as well as operations on the Hebrides Islands off the north west coast of Scotland.

The Moonsyst Rumen Monitoring system is an Internet of Things (IoT) health, reproduction and sustainability solution for dairy and beef cattle. It consists of an electronic Rumen Bolus-Sensor and a cloud-based data processing application, with an associated mobile app.

How it works

The Bolus-Sensor is swallowed by animal, where it sinks to the bottom of the rumen/stomach and settles in the reticulum, for the remainder of the animal’s life. The Bolus-Sensor is capable of multiple physiological and chemical data monitoring e.g. temperature, pH level, rumen and body activity. The Bolus-Sensor has an expected life span/battery life of 6+ years.

Through the use of Artificial Intelligence software models, the system alerts farmers of oestrus/heat, calving, abnormal water intake, fever and other health related anomalies. Moonsyst has initiated a new development for monitoring the animal’s rumen activity, through fine tuning the activity sensor/accelerometer within Bolus-Sensor, that will provide further insights into the animal’s health, a healthy rumen = a healthy cow!
