In 2023 we marked 35 Years as Datamars and all those that helped pave the way in the decades before.
We continue to have big aspirations and are energized and committed to making a measurable difference where it is needed most for many years to come.

Both companies had earned a reputation for meticulous research and development. This genesis in identification technology has, over the subsequent three decades, been the catalyst for an array of world first and best in class innovations in sectors as diverse as agriculture and textile services.

Headquartered in Lugano, Switzerland, Datamars’ growth has been built on research and development-based innovation. One example of this is the partnering with animal health companies to create the companion animal identification sector. Other examples include the development of the world’s first RFID tag for textiles known as the LaundryChip™ and the development of an extensive range of animal measurement and health provision services for production animals.

Through carefully selected acquisitions we are expanding our stable of businesses, adding new competencies, increasing our geographic reach and integrating technologies to bring new opportunities to customers.

This expansion includes: the 2012 purchase of Temple Tag – the well recognised animal identification company based in Texas, the 2014 acquisition of Zee Tag – a global leader in animal identification based in New Zealand with operations in the US and Australasia, the acquisition of European companion animal identification business Felixcan in 2016. In 2018 we acquired New Zealand’s Simcro and Tru-Test – adding advanced animal performance monitoring (Tru-Test) and animal health delivery solutions (Simcro) for the benefit of our customers.

The Herdwatch journey started in Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, Ireland in 2011 with a ‘eureka’ moment, by co-founder Fabien Peyaud. His initial research, backed by FRS Farm Relief Services and CEO Peter Byrne, showed that over 90% of cattle farmers did not use any form of herd management software. “Urban myths” would have us believe that farmers just don’t like technology or are unable to use it. Fabien did not believe this, and the rest is history…

Alltech InTouch

Alltech’s InTouch combines the latest in feed-management software, mixer wagon controller technology and skilled feeding specialists to work proactively with many types of farmers, ensuring the best in feeding accuracy and animal performance.

As well as helping to support dairy and beef farmers in the overall management of their herd, InTouch can quickly measure and communicate a number of key performance indicators (KPIs). These include loading and mixing accuracy, feed efficiency, dry-matter intakes, margin per cow, feed cost per liter and kilogram of daily live-weight gain. If a KPI falls outside of set tolerances, InTouch will raise an alert for the farmer and feeding specialist so they can take quick corrective action.

Both the InTouch hub, based in our office in Dunboyne and our on-farm nutritionists, InTouch proactively help farmers in all areas of their business, from ration formulation to grassland management, we aim to ensure animals have the best opportunity to deliver optimum results every day.

Precision Mineral Technology for Farmers

Designed with the animal nutrition needs of small and large farms in mind, TERRA NutriTECH’s range of mineral dispensing units ensures that your animals receive the minerals they need, when they need them. Our patented mineral dispensing technology means that you can have complete confidence that your herd is optimised nutritionally – with an accurate dose.

Benefits of Minerals For Cows

Good mineral nutrition is essential for herd health. This includes calving, fertility, bone development, immune function, muscle contractions, and nervous system function. The levels of vitamins and minerals in daily dry matter intake are typically low and can be overlooked completely in a herd nutritional program. Proper mineral and vitamin supplementation plays a key role in preventing metabolic disorders such as milk fever and grass tetany.

Farmers who switch to TERRA NutriTECH’s systems, report improved herd health, increased yields and profitability.
